Features

Part CAD tool. Part game.

A 3D crane and rigging sandbox that runs in your browser. Plan the pick the way it is planned in the field.

Real load charts

Five cranes drawn from published manufacturer capacity charts. Cross the line and the crane tips.

Rigging that fails

Bridles, spreaders, off-plumb picks. Over-tension a leg and it snaps. Physics, not a score bar.

Connect the steel

Splice sections, stand towers, brace and span. Build the whole structure one pick at a time.

Sandbox or challenge

Free-build across five scenes, or take on the campaign in challenge mode.

Challenge Mode

Every zone is one job

Each zone's levels run in sequence - every pick builds on the last, ordered the way the real steel would go up, until the finished structure stands.

Who made this

I'm Nate Young. I've run crane and rigging for 19 years, the last five at Stage FX, Inc.

I built Pick Playground to plan picks before they happen. It uses real manufacturer load charts, rigging that fails when you abuse it, and steel you can connect in all sorts of configurations. Part CAD tool, part game.

Most sandbox features as well as the first five levels in Challenge Mode are free in your browser; the full version is coming to Steam soon. Found a bug or have an idea? [email protected].

Chart data

The load charts in Pick Playground are drawn from the manufacturers' published capacity charts: Grove TMS500E, GMK4100B, and TM9120, Link-Belt 175AT, and Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2. Pick Playground is an independent project, not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any crane manufacturer. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
